Imagine a mild Spring evening as the sun gently sets with the beautiful Eastern Sunset Shawl, designed by Margje Enting.
Generously measuring 200 x 50cm, this shawl is created through 3 different sections, each featuring a contrasting technique. The first begins with garter stitch, then the second transforms to mosaic knitting, with the third involving a lace pattern. All techniques are clearly detailed in the pattern for lesser experienced crafters, with the end result being universally stunning!
This pattern consists of 3 parts.Part 1 is worked in garter stitch,
Part 2 is mosaic knitting
Part 3 is the lace section.
Mosaic Knitting:
Mosaic knitting involves using two colours but only one colour is used at a time. A RS and a WS row are worked in one colour and then the next two rows are worked in the next colour throughout. The colour patterning is achieved by slipping Sts purl wise according to the mosaic charts as the rows are worked.
Each horizontal row of squares on the Mosaic Charts represents 2 rows of knitting worked with the same colour.
Made using 3.5mm knitting needles
The colour used in the image is: 209 Plum to Red and 251 Plum
